Ayatollah Ramazani in Dakar: AhlulBayt (a.s.) Teachings Are a Path to Attaining Nearness to God

During the mourning ceremony for the martyrdom of Imam Jawad (a.s.) in Dakar, Senegal, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Benefiting from the teachings and words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) helps us draw closer to God in practice. The words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) are centered on monotheism, rooted in Fitrah, and in harmony with reason.”

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The mourning ceremony commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Jawad (a.s.) was held with the presence of Iranian families residing in Senegal at the Imam Reza (a.s.) Cultural Complex in Dakar, Senegal.

Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, who has traveled to Senegal at the invitation of religious figures in the country, participated in this ceremony as the special speaker.

Also present at the ceremony were the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Senegal, the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Senegal, the representative of Al-Mustafa (p.b.u.h) International University in Senegal, members of the Iranian embassy in Senegal, some of the economic representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Senegal, and a number of officials from the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

In his speech, Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the characteristics of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings, stated, “Benefiting from the teachings and words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) helps us draw closer to God in practice. The words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) are centered on monotheism, rooted in human nature, and in harmony with reason.”

Three Key Traits of a Believer from the Perspective of Imam Jawad (a.s.)

The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, citing a Hadith from Imam Jawad (a.s.), stated that a believer must possess three traits. He added, “The first trait mentioned in this Hadith is the success granted by God (tawfiq). Some people may have the time and opportunity, yet they lack the success to engage in worship. Everyone must seek the reason for the lack of divine success within himself. In Dua al-Sabah, it is also mentioned: ‘O God, if You do not grant me success, I will not find the right path’.”

He continued, “The second trait mentioned in the Hadith of Imam Jawad (a.s.) is that a believer should have a preacher within himself (a self-admonisher). Some individuals are not receptive to the advice of others, but a true believer should be able to counsel himself. Taking lessons from others was the practice of great and influential figures in the history of Islam. Even if we lack this disposition, we must cultivate an inner preacher that advises and guides us.”

Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized that accepting the goodwill of others is among the traits of a believer, stating, “Imam Jawad (a.s.), in his Hadith, mentioned accepting the advice of those who counsel him as the third trait of a believer, meaning a true believer must accept the sincere advice of others. If we embody these traits, we will succeed in offering great service to the religion of God. However, on this path, we will undoubtedly face many challenges that require patience.”

In the final part of the ceremony, Mr. Ali Hashemi, a eulogist of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), recited elegies in mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Jawad (a.s.).
